PLOT SYNOPSIS
The scene is a night club in Berlin, as the 1920s are drawing to a close. The Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience to the show and assures them that, whatever their troubles, they will forget them at the Cabaret. Set at the beginning of the Third Reich, Cabaret follows the romance of an English cabaret performer and an American writer. hrough the songs of the Cabaret's Emcee, the audience witnesses the political changes taking place.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
The Master of Ceremonies, or Emcee, welcomes the theatre audience to the Kit Kat Klub, a decadent, seedy cabaret in late 1920s Berlin. In the midst of the coming to power of the Nazis under Adolf Hitler, the Emcee aims to create an entertainment sanctuary where the outside world melts away, with his songs providing wry commentary throughout the show.
SHOW TRIVIA
Adam has said that his favourite role on Broadway was that of the Emcee from Cabaret. Describing it as "a real actor's role," he believed that if he could "pull [it] off, [he'd] be pround to call [himself] an actor."
