The helpless baby is taken under the protection of a gorilla tribe and becomes part of their family. When he eventually encounters his first human - Jane Porter, a curious young explorer - both their worlds are transformed forever. CHARACTER DESCRIPTION The Tarzan Storyteller was originally slated to be the narrator of the musical, and most likely an inner voice of both the Child Tarzan and the Adult Tarzan. Unfortunately, after the January 30, 2004 workshop, the part was scrapped. SHOW TRIVIA The musical is based on both the Disney film Tarzan and the original Tarzan story, Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
